The Holy Family Bronze Statue
The four-foot bronze statue was blessed on Sunday, December 26, for the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The area where the newly installed statue is situated used to be known as "Mary's Grotto" as a statue of Mary of the Streets had been previously its home there. The old statue of Mary holding the child Jesus had become too brittle and beyond repair.
One of our parishioners had approached Fr. Sergio asking about obtaining another statue of Mary and the child Jesus, but Fr. Sergio's response had been "why not Joseph too?" A great hunt ensued for finding a statue of the holy family with little or no luck. Most statues fitting the specs in mind were out of the country and extremely expensive. After praying to St. Joseph, our parishioners found a sculpturist here in the United States. Work began soon after, and six months later in time for the Feast of the Holy Family, the statue arrived!
A banner was posted with the messages Our Lady of Fatima told Sr. Lucia is inscribed there: "The decisive battle between the Lord and Satan will be over family and life." This helps us realize the importance of protecting every life and looking to the Holy Family as inspiration for families everywhere.
As you come to Mass or to visit the church, we invite you to take a moment to stop by with the Holy Family and pray to them and entrust your family and all families to them.
