Wedding ceremonies are usually scheduled on Saturdays. We have three time slots for marriages: 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. There are times when weddings can be done on other days, except Sunday, which is reserved for the Lord with Sunday Masses only. Weddings on days other than Saturday are at the discretion of the priest or deacon.
For additional information, requirements, and guidelines, please see the Matrimony Packet
1. Can I get married at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church?
Answer: If you are a registered parishioner or your parents are registered parishioners of St. Justin Martyr Parish for over six months and you or your fiancé are baptized Roman Catholics, you may have your wedding at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church.
2. What if we are not associated with St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church?
Answer: If you are a member of another Catholic parish or live in another Catholic parish's boundaries, you must first talk to your local parish priest and obtain permission to hold your wedding outside of your local parish. If you are living outside the boundaries of the Diocese of Orange, then the local priest or deacon should do all of the marriage preparation and submit a letter of Nihl Obstat. The minimum donation for couples from outside St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church is $600.00.
3. What are the available times for weddings?
Answer: Weddings are usually scheduled at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Sundays are not available due to the many Masses celebrated in the church. Weddings on days other than Saturday are at the discretion of the priest or deacon.
4. What if either my fiancé or I have been married before?
Answer: If either of you have been married before in the Catholic Church, a civil ceremony, or in another Christian church, synagogue, or mosque, you must talk to one of the priests or deacons before any date for your wedding can be considered. It doesn’t matter if you were married for only three hours or 30 years, your honesty about previous marriages is very important. The priest or deacon can help you clear up any previous marriages.
5. How much does it cost?
Answer: Everything you are and everything you have. Marriage in the Catholic Church is a serious personal and spiritual commitment. You will be asked to give your all to your future spouse every day. As far as money goes, St. Justin Martyr Church maintains all of its buildings and services by donations. Your generous donation will be gratefully accepted. You can expect to spend about $750 for professional fees to musicians, coordinators, and gifts to the parish and priest or deacon who officiates at your wedding.
